This was our first tryst with making wearable jewelry using hardware. We wanted to use hardware as an integral part of making chic, well finished and fashionable jewelry that made a statement.

It began with trips to Old Delhi's markets and experimentations with using brass plumbing washers welded into amorphous forms resembling the structure of atoms to make the 'Random Bolts' ring.

We instinctively decided to call it the Hardware Collection because each piece in our nascent collection was a unique element sourced from hardware stores like the 15 ampere fuses for  the double fuse ring and fuse ladder earrings, watch dials, test tubes and clamps and at a molecular level this collection was to set the tone for what Studio Metallurgy would be known for – Art, Design and Innovation.
